Founded in the 1830s, Singapore was once a bustling lumber town and an important port on Lake Michigan. Singapore’s story took an unexpected turn as shifting Lake Michigan sands gradually buried the village. By the late 1800s, much of Singapore had disappeared beneath the dunes, leaving behind a fascinating piece of Saugatuck-area history.
